UPwithART – less than two weeks away!

UPwithART – less than two weeks away!

UPwithART 2.0 will be an online, reimagined version of the arty-party and silent art auction you have grown to know and love. Beginning on 24 May and culminating on 30 May, we will all gather online, to celebrate culture, compassion and community through relief of homelessness and for the love of art! This is the 10th annual event, and the second year of Museum London and Unity Project’s partnership to support Unity Project’s Housing Stability Program and Museum London’s children’s programming.

While this year’s arty-party and silent art auction has been digitally adapted to online format, it will still serve up familiar UPwithART favourites: original works by local, renowned, emerging and Unity Project participant artists as well as contemporary and historical works donated by notable London-area collectors. This year’s festivities will include a week-long online art auction, an exclusive Registration Prize, an Art & Activism artist panel discussion, Money Now! donation bidding, live elements and much more!

Our deepest thanks to the sponsors, artists, collectors, committee and all who have rallied to defeat pandemic discombobulation and bring this all together. This milestone anniversary year will prove yet again that Londoners are intent on creating a better city through celebration of the arts and social justice.

Follow Unity Project’s and Museum London’s social media channels to receive UPwithART updates as they happen!

Please join us for an online art auction featuring 65 awesome works of art, an Art & Activism panel discussion, speeches from our Directors, Money Now!, and a very timely print multiple.

Registration will open on Friday, May 8. Register before midnight on Tuesday, May 26 for your chance to win our Registration Prize, the painting Misty Harbour by William “St. Thomas” Smith (gift from Museum London, valued at $750).

This truly is a moment when the community and the organizations that serve them are looking for a strong showing of support. Financial donations are needed – now more than ever

Financial donations are needed – now more than ever

London is full of great people seeking to know what supplies they can help us assemble in this time of crisis. This post will address that matter.

Please share it widely with your social circles. Financial donations are needed, now more than ever. We need to minimize interactions with donors both at the front and back end so as to maximize the effectiveness of your compassion and generosity.

We must reduce physical transactions conducted at our shelter to protect participants, frontline staff and community. We need to streamline our limited human resources to priority tasks in shelter and not in complex community organizing (thought there may come a time for that).

The postponement of our flagship fundraiser, UPwithART (and possibly future events) will hit us hard. Monetary donations allow us to purchase exactly what we need, when we need it, and utilizing the safest delivery methods possible.

Please consider the amount of money you would have spent on goods and gas and convert that into a monetary donation. You can even add a little for the tax you will save and the tax credit you will get. You can encourage your friends and family to do the same.

You can donate online directly through our website (via Canada Helps) (links below) or mail cheques attention Silvia Langer. Attention of Silvia Langer Unity Project for Relief of Homelessness in London 717 Dundas Street London ON N5W 2Z5 t 519 433 8700 ext 201 c 519 494 4360.

Huge success for UPwithART w/ Museum London Partnership

Huge success for UPwithART w/ Museum London Partnership

THANK YOU!!

The 9th Annual UPwithART show, in partnership with Centre at the Fork – Museum London, was an incredible success with enormous thanks to you! We successfully raised over $150,000 at Museum London on April 27th, 2019, with 70 works of awesome art on display along with our guests’ love of art, a passion to end homelessness, and genuine support for Unity Project.

This year your support of UPwithART is currently at work supporting Unity Project to adapt “Housing First” to our emergency shelter framework and helping vulnerable people (aged 16 and up) end or avoid their experience of homelessness through diverting people from shelter, obtaining safe housing, and maintaining stability within the community. With a new partnership formed with Museum London, your gift is also at work supporting children and Indigenous programming to deepen the visitor experience and advance a lively, creative cultural centre that inspires, encourages and engages the community.

We are extremely grateful for your continued support, participation and presence within the community, and together we are able to exhibit the intersection of arts, culture & social justice and the importance of them in establishing a vibrant community.

We hope you join us next year at Museum London for the cities best arty-party!

Thank-you on behalf of the UPwithART Committee:
Silvia Langer, Brian Meehan, Anita Schipper, Sarah White, Peter Lebel, Lisa Mc Dougall, Moira McKee, David Merritt, Mitra Shreeram, Lucas Stenning,Janice Strickland, Diana Tamblyn, Ian Tripp, Lucretia Geleynse
