Many thanks to the artists, collectors, sponsors, volunteers, contributors and patrons who made the 6th Annual UPwithART an enormous success. It was the Arty-Party’s most financially fruitful year yet… and lots of fun! Unity Project for Relief of Homelessness in London net well over $60,000.
Over 300 people from all walks of life made the scene on 23 April 2016 at The Palace Theatre, stopping on the red carpet on the way in to enjoy Vance Lemon busking for change under the marquee.
Inside the art-deco doors, over 70 awesome art works provided something for everyone and the silent auction bidding frenzy proved it. Art covered every wall … 18 pieces donated from the private collection of notable collectors, 15 original artworks donated by Unity Project and New School of Colour participants, 33 original works from a stellar list of local renowned and emerging artists and 4 intriguing, artful experiences… plus incredible raffle and door prizes!
The ‘Money Now’ live auction was inspired. Individuals reached deep into their pockets to support Unity Project’s core needs, raising $15,000 in 5 minutes!
This year’s My Life in Colour Award honoured the deeply deserving Wyn and Lucretia Geleynse as Unity Project’s most artfully influential person(s) of 2016. A quilt made by Unity Project’s executive director, Chuck Lazenby, recognized the creative, profound and all-around support the pair has enduringly provided.
It was indeed a multi-sensory celebration of art, culture, compassion and community – London’s best arty-party for relief of homelessness. You made it so!
